Native American Language Resource Center

The purposes of the NALRC program are to (1) support schools that use Native American and Alaska Native languages as the primary language of instruction; (2) maintain, protect, and promote the rights and freedom of Native Americans and Alaska Natives to use, practice, maintain, and revitalize their languages, as envisioned in the Native American Languages Act of 1990 (25 U.S.C. 2901, et seq.); and (3) support the Nation's First Peoples' efforts to maintain and revitalize their languages and cultures, and to improve educational opportunities and student outcomes within Native American and Alaska Native communities.

Our Services

  • NILI NALRC provides Technical Assistance on CPPD projects and programming.

  • NILI NALRC supports Tribal Language Programs with trainings, development, adoption and use of infrastructure to develop teacher expertise to support recruitment & retention of AN/NA language teachers in education systems.

  • NALRC/NILI support tribal nations programs SEA, LEA, IHE and other national resources centers with material development, research, models, curriculum and assessment resources. Including technical assistant in digital documentation process and planning.

  • NILI/NALRC support use of AN/NA languages in ES system through providing teaching pathways trainings, best practices of policy advocacy in ES. Developing team strategy and committees.
